DLP650LNIR: What are some ways to mitigate diffraction when using a collimated laser with a DMD chip?

I'm using a collimated NIR laser with a DMD chip and I want to eliminate the diffraction effects from my projected image.  My setup is a common projection system where I'm imaging the surface of the DMD chip.

Is there a common way to reduce the coherency of the laser?  Would dithering work?

    Welcome to the DLP section of the TI-E2E forums.

    So as I understand your setup, you are using a collimated NIR laser to illuminate a DMD and then a lens after the DMD to re-image the surface of the DMD on a screen or production surface of some kind.

    A lens should re-converge the diffraction patterns back to a coherent image at the focus of the lens.  

    Is your lens coated for NIR?  If not this could introduce unwanted reflections at the lens.

    What diffraction effects are you experiencing?  A picture would be very helpful, but I know that could be a little challenging in the IR.
