DLPLCR6500EVM: Pattern noise in optical spectrum

Part Number: DLPLCR6500EVM

I am using the 6500EVM in a spectrometer application. I scan the spectrometer from 400 to 700 nm. My spectral trace shows spiking behavior throughput the scan. I have checked all the components and it appears that the DMD is the culprit. Could it be that the DMD is dithering and that translates into spectral dropouts? I don't see the problem when I directly detect the light (no spectrometer). Thanks Jim

  • Hi Jim,

Welcome to DLP section of TI E2E community. Can you please post some pictures of issue?

  • Hello Jim,

    Your application sounds quite interesting.

Can you describe your setup and methodology for taking the spectrum using the DMD? Including triggers, timings, operation mode (i.e. Video, Video Pattern, Pattern-on-the-Fly).

Images are always helpful. It is difficult to determine the cause without this kind of information.
