Compiler/DLP4500: About pattern colour and two camera design of DLP4500

Hi,

I have been using dlp4500 to built up my 3D Scanner and I want to try every thing to increase the quality of point cloud.

So I have seen your video "3D Scanning using Two Cameras with DLP LightCrafter 4500" in "http://www.ti.com/dlp-chip/overview.html".About the vedio, I have some questions.

Firstly,is the LightCrafter 4500  projecting the purple colour pattern?Why do you chose this colour?

Secondly,I saw the projecting speed is so fast(less than1s?)Could you please tell me the exposeure time and period time config of the projector?

Finally,I know DLP4500 has multi-cameras design.Dose it has any advantages of using two camera?

    Allow us to look into what design this is. I'm not actually familiar with it but we will look into it.

    In general, two cameras will allow one to more accurately determine the location of a projected point and consequently achieve more accurate results. Additionally, different projected colors are better resolved depending on the color of the projected surface.

    I always see the 3D Scanner on the market usually use blue light or purple light,are there any reasons for it?And how can I project the colour like the vedio while I am using TIDA-00254-Application?In addition,if I work for long time with this type of colour,will it do harm to my boby?

  • Hi,

    There is no particular light or color is good or bad. It is depends on the your scan environment (ambient light) , object color , response of the camera to particular wavelength. 

    For example - We can use invisible light NIR (Near Infra Red) or UV depending upon ambient lighting conditions. Where you need to use camera matching to the projection wavelengths.
