DLP3010EVM-LC: GUI: Saving pattern data crash, logfile not readable, not all patterns are shown, GUI: wrong restart

Part Number: DLP3010EVM-LC
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLP3010

Hi,

I have several issues with the GUI of the Lightcrafter:

1) I am trying to program about 31 png internal patterns (horizontal + vertical, 1 bit) and not all are shown. The first ~10 are being displayed and everything else stays black ('Run Once  / Run continuously).

2) While trying to save my pattern order table as a bin file, the GUI crashes with an exception. It creates a logfile, but it is unreadable for me. There is a button to send the logfile via email, but the email address field is empty.

3) If I click on 'restart the GUI', it starts the DLP2010EVM GUI instead of the DLP3010 GUI.

I can provide a logfile if requested (Don't know if there is any sensitive data in it, therefore only if requested)

Thank you in advance

  • Hello Patrick,

Sorry for  the issues you are experiencing. Could you upload screenshots of the GUI (Pattern Sets, Pattern Set Order, and Pattern Control)? We'll go from there and let you know if we need the log file.

    Thanks,

    Kyle

  • Hi Patrick,

Please also share the firmware and GUI versions that you're using. A screenshot of the Information page would be helpful.

    Azad

  • Of course, here they are (, )

  • Some additional remarks to other issues (contacted customer support, but the refer to the E2E)

    - Might just be a logical bug: The exposure time should be higher than 0. According to the appended screenshot I have definitive an exposure time higher than 0. This only occurs, if the device is connected, but not turned on.

EDIT: It also occurs if the device is not connected.

    - Is it normal behaviour, that the device sends an communication error, if the projector switch is turned on the first time?

  • Hi Patrick,

Please share the log file with us. You can attach it here, it doesn't contain any sensitive information.

    Regarding your other queries:

    • The minimum exposure time is read from the EVM through I2C, so it will be shown as 0 if EVM is powered is not connected or powered off or if communication fails.
    • The Communication Error may be set initially, but will be cleared after the first read. As long as I2C communication works, you're good to go.

    Regards

    Azad

  • Ok thank you :).

  • Hello Patrick,

I'm also curious if there is a reason you aren't adding more than one pattern to a pattern set? Perhaps it would help your operation.

    Thanks,

    Kyle

  • Hello Kyle,

the idea was to avoid hardware triggers and switch through the patterns via USB. Therefore only one pattern per set was used to change the set with WritePatternOrderTableEntry.

    Best regards,

    Patrick

  • Note: But we will probably switch to triggers.

Is there a suggested format for the patterns? For example: we use (or tried to use) png, Bitdepth: 1 Bit, 1280x768px, size: about 4 KB.

We've also tried the BMP format which resulted in to a size of ~110 KB, if that matters.

    Best regards,

    Patrick

  • Hi Patrick,

we usually use the BMP format but i think png format works too.

As per Kyle's suggestion, have you tried to add more than one pattern in pattern set, to check if issue is gone.

If this is the case then we will look forward to see why only one pattern in one set is not working.

    Thanks,

    Navneet
