DLPC3470: Are DLPC3435 and DLPC347 pin-compatible?

One of your optical engine partners has provided us with their evaluation module. While the performance of the optical engine is good, we need them to provide us a PCB with the DLPC3470 controller instead of DLPC3435.

Since they don't have experience with this specific DLPC, I think it is more appropriate to ask here:

Can the DLPCs simply be swapped or will it require more modification to the board?

Hi John,

DLPC3470 is targeted for light control application and DLPC3435 is for display application. They are pin compatible.

DLPC3470 offers additional features for pattern generation and management. You can swap them as long as you are managing light control signasl like trigger in/out and pattern ready appropriately.

Hi Vivek,

You are essentially saying we need the apropriate firmware with the appropriate DLPC, correct?

The only reason we want to use DLPC3470 is higher refresh rate monochrome external patterns.

Hi John,

DLKPC3430 and DLPC3470 have different firmware. You will need DLPC3470 specific firmware. The firmware is also configured for a specific chip-set combination - DMD + DLP controller + Power management IC.

Please work with your optical engine provider to right firmware.

That's good to hear that DLPC3470 doesn't need a beefier RAM or ROM and just needs proper firmware.

The PMICs seem identical between DLPC3435 and DLPC3470.
