DLP4710EVM-LC: How to project 45 bmp files (each files contain 8 bits gray scale vertical/horizontal bar patterns)

Part Number: DLP4710EVM-LC

Hello TI,

I have 45 bmp files (each file contain 1920X1028 pixels, 8-bits-gray scale vertical/horizontal bar pattern). Form GUI  pattern set, I can upload 8 files, second pattern set, I can only load 7 files, is that normal?

If I want each bmp to be projected with white light (RGB), is it doable for 4710EVM-LC?

Thanks

Derlin

  • Hi Derlin,

Could you please share a screenshot of the uploaded pattern attempts? Red, green, and blue light can sequentially be projected to create white light. Please see our Light Control FAQ for more information.

    Thanks,

    Kyle

  • Hi Kyle,

    Thank for your prompt reply.

I guess the sizes of my 8-bits-pattern bmp files are too large (2MBytes). I modified them to 1-bit-pattern png files (several KBytes), then I can load 24 vertical files to one 1-bit-vertical-pattern set, another 21 files to 1-bit-horizantal-patter set.

I am curious why GUI asks you to select either vertical or horizontal pattern only? Can I load all vertical and horizontal filrs to one pattern set?

Attached is the version of my EVM!

    Thanks!

    Derlin

  • Hello Derlin,

I believe each pattern set only supports either horizontal or vertical patterns. If you want to display different types you should be able to simply create additional pattern sets. As far as them being too large - note you only need a 1xn or nx1 image to upload where n is the horizontal or vertical resolution depending on which type of pattern you are using. This could save space.

    Thanks,

    Kyle

  • Hi Kyle,

Thank you very much for your prompt reply.

I am not sure how I can create files you mentionedI:

"a 1xn or nx1 image to upload where n is the horizontal or vertical resolution depending on which type of pattern you are using".

How do you do it on  GUI for the pattern like below.

    Derlin

  • Hi Kyle,

I probably understand what you mean 1Xn or nX1 file.

If my file is, for example 1Xn (first column of vertical pattern), then DLP will fill it to 1920X1080 automatically? This is why GUI can only select either vertical or horizontal pattern?

    Thanks!

    Derlin

  • That is correct. This is the intention of 1D patterns. Please see the FAQ for more information.

    Thanks,

    Kyle
