high frame rate grayscale

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLP5500

The DLP5500 chipset docs show that the system is capable of 5000Hz binary frame rates, and 500Hz grayscale frame rate.  With the LightCommander wizard, it is easy to set up the high frame rate binary mode.  I cannot however see any way to enable the high frame rate grayscale mode.  Anyone know how to do this??     Thanks, Bob

  • Hello Bob,

When you create a new Solution (setup) in the Light Commander GUI, select 8 bits per pixel (normally set to 1).  In the Workflow window,  select Structured Light mode and Static Image Buffer data source.  You should then be able to change the frame rate as you would in the binary mode.

    Hope this answers your question.

  • Thanks for info, it is working now.  The only time the 1 vs. 8 bits option is offered is when you start a project from the Project...New command.  I have always been running the wizard without ever issuing the New command, so I never saw the option.  Thanks again.

Is there any way to source the high frame rate video data from DVI instead of "static image buffer" ??

  • Bob,

I'm glad that the answer helped and that you were able to get the high frame rate working.

For the DVI source, however, the maximum rate is 60fps.
