DLP3030Q1EVM: Heads Up Display

Part Number: DLP3030Q1EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRA71XEVM, DRV8889-Q1EVM

Hello Guys,

Good day!

We have a customer looking to develop a Heads-up display using the following EVMs:

  • PGU unit – DLP3030-Q1 EVM
  • Application processor – DRA71xEVM
  • Motor driver -- DRV8889-Q1EVM

They have a list of questions which were hoping you can help us with.

1. Do we get a reference codes (like driver codes, Application codes, utility tools etc.) for the testing of the heads-up display design?

2. What software and hardware tools do you recommend procuring in order to achieve our goal?

3. What is the difference between the DRA71xEVM CPU board and JAMR3 Tuner application board? Which is suitable for the HUD application as an application processor?

4. Is the hardware mention above for the application processor requires Linux based development? If there are different ways which one do you recommend for the development?

5. Any recommended automotive camera modules that are suitable for application processor?

6. Is it possible to buy or lease a sample boards for certain amount of duration? If yes what will be the process?

Thanks in advance!

  • Hi Art,

Good day to you as well. Regarding your questions:

    1. Do we get a reference codes (like driver codes, Application codes, utility tools etc.) for the testing of the heads-up display design?

We provide a software GUI and the necessary hardware parts for you to easily test and evaluate the PGU. Check this out: https://www.ti.com/lit/ug/dlpu064/dlpu064.pdf?ts=1588702813160

We have an electronics only module as well.

This page also has very good references for both the electronics and the system: https://www.ti.com/product/DLP3030-Q1#tech-docs

    2. What software and hardware tools do you recommend procuring in order to achieve our goal?

With regards to our EVM, we provide the necessary software GUI and hardware components for you to easily test the PGU functionalities.

    3. What is the difference between the DRA71xEVM CPU board and JAMR3 Tuner application board? Which is suitable for the HUD application as an application processor?

Unfortunately, I am not the right person to ask this question. Maybe I can connect you with the appropriate group if you are interested, let me know.

    4. Is the hardware mention above for the application processor requires Linux based development? If there are different ways which one do you recommend for the development?

    Same as question 3.

    5. Any recommended automotive camera modules that are suitable for application processor?

    Same as question 3.

    6. Is it possible to buy or lease a sample boards for certain amount of duration? If yes what will be the process?

No for leasing but yes for buying a unit permanently. If you are seriously interested in getting a DLP3030-Q1 EVM, let me know and I will assist you with the steps.

Depending on the level of customer engagement, we could potentially discuss this offline as well.

    Regards,

    Pengzhao Zhu

  • Hello Pengzhao,

Thank you very much for the prompt response!

For questions number 3,4 and 5, it is highly appreciated if you can connect me to the appropriate group.

I just accepted your friend request on e2e.

    Again, thanks a lot!

  • Hi Art,

I can pass this thread on to the processor group to answer your questions and they will pass it on to the motor driver group after they finish their part. Alternatively, you can close this thread and create two new threads on the processor (Jacinto for the EVM) and motor driver forum using the "“+Ask a related question” button.

Which one do you prefer? I think the first option would give you the solutions in one setting while the second option would give you the answers sooner.

    Please let me know.

    Regards,

    Peng

  • Hi Art,

I am going to move this to the next group just in case you need it soon.

    Regards,

    Peng

  • Thanks Peng!

Does this mean that I have to keep this ticket open for now?

    Best regards,

    Art

  • Hi Art,

No you don't have to. I will close it and you can create 2 new threads on the other forums.
