DLPC3435: custom firmware using GUI

Part Number: DLPC3435
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLPA2005

Hello,

We have made a custom system using DLPC3435 and would like to make a custom firmware for it.

We got one using https://www.ti.com/tool/DLP-PICO-FW-SEL

It works good, but we want for example for it to start with the LED currents at the lowest and change splash screen and so on.

We tried using https://www.ti.com/tool/DLPLCRD-GUI to customize it , but it failed.

Is there any way one could customize the firmware from DLP® Pico™ Firmware Selector?

And how one would do it? Using the DLP Composer ? And if so , how can we get it?

Thanks in advance,

Eriks

  • Hi Eriks,

Welcome to TI's E2E forums. I will look into this and get back to you soon. I have a few questions:

    1. What PMIC are you using with the DLPC3435 ?

    2. In what way did your attempt to change the LED brightness and splash screens fail - was there any error message, displayed improperly, etc. ?

    Best,

    Chris

  • Hi,

    >> 1. What PMIC are you using with the DLPC3435 ?

    We are using DLPA2005

    >> 2. In what way did your attempt to change the LED brightness and splash screens fail - was there any error message, displayed improperly, etc. ?

When i press "Finish" at the end , 2 errors pop up.

Looks like it doesn't like the FW i got from DLP® Pico™ Firmware Selector

  • Hi Eriks,

To confirm, you are you able to upload the unaltered firmware image without the above errors? Doing so would validate that the I2C protocol is communicating correctly with your custom system.

If this upload is successful, you may want to try an upload while only altering the currents. The splash image size may be too large for the flash memory.

    Regards,

    Austin

  • Eriks,

If you are grabbing firmware from the Pico FW Selector Tool, it won't be compatible with the flash update feature in the DLP LightCrafter GUI (which is only designed for the stock EVM firmware and not the many varieties you can implement on a custom board).

I've sent you a friend request on E2E so I can assist you further. Please accept it so I can initiate private discussion.
