DLPLCR6500EVM: Usage and cautions of DLPLCR6500EVM and DLP6500FYE

Part Number: DLPLCR6500EVM

Hi, I bought a DLPLCR6500EVM several days ado. During the use of this instrument, I need to fix this instrument on a metal plate with screws as follow figures. I wonder whether this operation would damage the DMD and violate ESD condition. Besides, can I touch the EVM board when power off? Looking forward to your reply.

  • Hi Wenbin Jiao,

Touching PCB or any components on the board by hand is not recommended. This will cause component damage.
If you are in ESD safe environment and Taken all the ESD precaution, you can touch the PCB.

Screw openings are provided to install Heat sink. DMD should be operated in recommended operating condition. Other wise DMD life will be reduced.
By connecting metal plate, there will not be space to install heat sink.

If you are using metal plate just for short time, then take care of below precautions..
There are few SMD components next to the DMD and make sure metal plate is not touching them.
Metal plate should not be touching any PCB tracks.

Avoid touching metal plate by hand. This could cause ESD Damage.

    Thanks,
