Thanks for the info! Sorry for my lack of detail, I should have specified further: while I do have access to the GUI, I'd like to do this programmatically via python. I can send certain types of commands via a non-TI python package (https://github.com/SivyerLab/pyCrafter4500). But I don't see any USB command in the DLPC3000 Programmer’s Guide (DLPU004B) for uploading a static image.

So is the GUI the only way to do this? It's not possible by USB communication without the GUI?

Ah, I'm sorry, I meant the DLPC350 (which is in the DLP4500) Programmer's guide (DLPU010G).

Hello Matt,

The DLPC350 programmer's guide has command to control  functionality/features of the DLPC350 controller. 

The USB interface is supported through  a separate IC in the EVM.

Hello Matt,

The Programmer's Guide that is mentioned above is the set of commands that can be sent over USB in the I2C communication protocol.

If you are looking to interface directly with your board, you may find a interface board (like the Devasys) to be helpful. This is the lowest level, non-GUI interface that is available with the DLPC350.

I'm confused, doesn't the USB port of the DLP4500 use HID? Why do you say "sent over USB in the I2C communication protocol"? But it's sounding like the answer is

"No, you cannot upload bitmap images to the DMD mirrors in the DLP4500 by USB commands alone."

If that's the case, that would answer my question. However, no one has confirmed that this is the case. Or am i missing / misunderstanding something here?

Hi Matt,

We are looking into this and will get back to you with concrete information soon.

In the meantime, please look through the GUI source code (which should be in a .zip file along with your install) and this will allow you to integrate the GUI application commands into your program.
