Hi DLP Experts,

One of our customer is planning on using the DLPLCR4500EVM as Spatial Light Modulator in some of their experiments, removing the light engine and as they want to use laser as the light source. For these purposes the initial position of the DMD chip is not very fitting, so we were wondering if it is possible to flip the position of the flex cable (180°) and also the DMD (180°)? If so, can you guide us on proper procedures to do it?

Attached is the initial condition and it would be better to have it facing outward not inward.

As far as I am aware the design of this flex cable is not symmetrical. That is to say, you cannot flip the orientation of the flex and expect the alignment of the connections (and the design of the traces within those connections) to remain the same.

You risk damaging the DMD by performing this operation, so I would not advise pursuing this kind of setup.
