DLP4710EVM-LC: How to check PatternSet data in Flash memory

Part Number: DLP4710EVM-LC
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLPC3479, DLPDLC-GUI

Hi,

I would like to check what PatternSet data is written to the Flash memory of DLP4710-EVM.

According to the DLPC3479 Software Programmer's Guide, I can write to Flash with Write Flash Start (E1h), but there doesn't seem to be a command to read data from Flash.

Can you tell me if there is a better way to check the data without Flash?

Regards,

Goto

  • Hi Goto,

You can use the "Save Pattern to File" feature of DLPDLC-GUI to look into the Pattern Set data that is being written to the flash memory of the EVM.

  • Hi Mayank-san,

The "Save Pattern to File" function seems to save the PatterSet created by DLPDLPC-GUI to a file, but is it also possible to read Flash data and output it to a file?

I wrote a PatternSet in EVM Flash and then executed "Save Pattern to File", but it only created a 1 KByte file. This seems to be a different size than the file written to Flash.

Are there any additional operations required to do that?

    Regards,

    Goto

  • Goto-san,

Yes, you are correct. The "Save Pattern to File" feature reads the Pattern configuration data created by the GUI itself.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to read a certain information from the flash into a file.

May I know the reason behind why you want to read the Pattern Configuration content from the flash?

Just to let you know, you can backup the entire firmware from the flash into a file using the "Backup Firmware" feature of the GUI.

    Mayank

  • Hi Mayank-san,

We wanted to check the contents of the flash beforehand because the device may malfunction if the pattern set contents written in the flash are different from the intended ones.

However, it seems difficult to read the pattern set information from the flash, so I will try to find another way.

    Regards,

    Goto

  • Goto-san,

Thanks for the clarification. Unfortunately, yes it is not possible to read pattern set information from the flash.

    Mayank
