DLPDLCR2010EVM: Flex Cable

Part Number: DLPDLCR2010EVM

Dear all,

I have the DLPDLCR2010EVM and while working I have noticed that the back part of the flex cable and the DMD chip are getting very hot. And the patterns are not changing on the DMD surface.
Do you know what is the reason?

I assume that the flex cable is damaged, but any visible damage I can not find. Is it possible to replace the flex cable only? From where can I find it?

Thank you in advance.

Best regards,

Astghik

  • Astghik,

Have you noticed any heat issues with your system before? What LED PWM brightness settings are you running the system at?

    Philippe Dollo

  • Dear Philippe Dollo,

I do not know, I did not change them and used to work always like that. How can I check it?

    Regards,

    Astghik

  • Dear Philippe,

    Many thanks for your reply!

Just to make it clearer, I have another flex board that was designed in house. Upon connecting the DMD chip to this board, it functions normally and I do not encounter any heating problem. However, when the same DMD chip is connected to your original flex board, a heating problem arises and the pattern on the DMD does not change. Knowing that your flex board was working perfectly before, I am assuming there is a problem with it now. Therefore, I am looking for any information on how I can buy a new flex board. Is this possible?

    Many thanks for your understanding!

    Regards,

    Astghik

  • Hello Astghik,

Unfortunately Texas Instruments does not sell flex cables separate from a system.

If you are certain that the flex cable is the issue, you may consider purchasing a new engine which would likely come with a flex cable. To do so you will have to ask the vendors for our optical modules found on our optical engine page if the modules come with flex cables.

    Kind regards,

    Austin
