Hi, I would like to add a dark time between frames when configured for HDMI input. I tried using the external pattern streaming mode, but without success. Is there any other way to do it?

Rodney,
Welcome to the E2E forums and thanks for your interest in our DLP technology.
Can you share any further detail on the frame timing specifications you are looking for?

Philippe Dollo
Rodney,
Have you tried using the DLP4710-LC GUI to program the post-exposure dark time on your patterns? You can find the GUI here:

Yes, I have, but it can't do what I want it to do. I basically want the projector to run in display mode from the HDMI input but be able to insert a programmable amount of dark time. The external pattern streaming mode can't be configured in the mode I am suggesting because you can't have multiple LEDs during the pattern. For example, turn on red LED for bits 0:7, turn on green LED for bits 8:14, and turn on blue LED for bits 15:23.
Rodney
Rodney,
Thanks for elaborating. I'll review the relevant documentation and give you feedback on the same in the next day or so.

Rodney,
I believe you want to display display bits [0:7], [8:15] and [16:23] in different colors, is that right?
If yes, then this is not possible.
You can display all the 24bits either in R,G, G or RGB colors only. You can checkout the pattern configuration timing diagram of the GUI to get to know all the possible cases of external pattern display.

Mayank
Hi Mayank, yes, you are correct. I was also wondering if I can could just configure it for HDMI input mode and simply program a dark time for each frame. It seems like the answer to that is no as well. I could not find any registers that would do that.
Rodney
Rodney,
If I understand your plan, you are considering feeding video data that contains the different colored bits and have the controller add dark time between frames. Is this correct?

Austin
Hi Austin, yes, I want to run the EVM as a projector displaying whatever is coming into the HDMI port (i.e. External video port mode) and then add dark time between frames.
Rodney
Rodney,
What you are asking for is a non-standard feature. Can you please accept my friend request on E2E so I can assist you further?

Philippe Dollo
Rodney,
As Phillipe mentioned, this is not possible. You will have to make sure that the External Input that is coming in is according to the exposure time settings.

Mayank
