DLP2010NIR: Basic operation of DMD

Part Number: DLP2010NIR
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLPC150

Hello Everyone ,

My application calls for straightforward  use of the DMD . I would like to have the micromirrors in a fixed position and that's it.

I shall be supplying Vss , Vdd , Voffset , Vbias and Vreset manually via a lab psu and shall adhere to the ratings in the datasheet and follow the safe powerup and power down sequence  as well.

However , at the moment I am unable to figure out how to put all the mirrors in either -17 or +17 degrees . Which pins are required to make this work ?

I do not want to use DLPC 150ZEZ or DLPA 2005 at the moment and would like to run the DMD in a on-off operation. Can you please guide me towards the best way to approach this ? Ideally which pins can I simply apply the voltage to ?

Best Regards,

SP

  • Hello Srinivas,

The DLP is chipset solution. You need to use a controller to drive the DMD. The chipset are target for specific application. It seems your application requires managing NOR light  (DLP2010NIR).

The accompanying  controller for DLPC2010 is DLPC150. Please refer to the datasheet and programmer guide for DLCP150 controller.

  • Hello Vivek ,

Thank you for your input . Yes , my application requires managing NIR.

I am aware that the DLP required a controller and PMIC to operate . However , I am looking for a straightforward operation as mentioned above , I do not have the time to build a PCB with controller , PMIC and flash and  would like to use the equipment's at my disposal (AI/AO devices , FPGA , Signal generators , lab PSU , converters , Arduino , raspberry pi , STM32 , LabVIEW) to get the DMD running . I would like to drive the mirror in 17 degrees and leave it there , no control or pattern generation .

Hence , I am trying to externally provide all the power requirements using regulated supplies , buck or boost converters.

I would like to know how I can create a signal for subLVDS and SDR pins to have all the mirrors in 17 deg position . Can I maybe have a signal generator for the clock and parallelly generate a high signal using a signal generator or fpga and move all the mirrors to 17 deg position ?

    Best,

    SP

  • Srinivas,

As Vivek mentioned, you cannot operate this DMD without the controller and PMIC unfortunately. Your best bet would probably be to use an EVM or the reference design associated with this chipset to help you:
