MBMC Request

PExT = 10500 us

Bit-Depth # Patterns Color
1 29 Green
8 8 Green
1 1 Red
1 1 Green
1 1 Blue
  • Hi Cole and welcome to the forum!

    The sequence you've requested uses 96 bit planes, while the LightCrafter's MBMC feature only supports up to 94 bit planes. EDIT: The LightCrafter MBMC feature does support up to 96 bit planes. This is enabled by using four 24 bit plane buffers. The 96 bit planes can only be completely used if the individual patterns fit on one of the four 24 bit plane buffers. Please read the "Creating Multiple Bit Depth and Multiple Color Pattern Sequences for DLP® LightCrafter™ Kit" application note for more information. This document is available in the Technical Documents section on the LightCrafter's product page: http://www.ti.com/tool/DLPLIGHTCRAFTER

    Would it be possible for you to use less patterns in your application?

    Best regards,

    Blair

  • Hi Blair,

    Easy enough!

    PExT = 10500 us

    Bit-Depth # Patterns Color
    1 27 Green
    8 8 Green
    1 1 Red
    1 1 Green
    1 1 Blue
  • Hi Cole,

    I made a mistake in my earlier post, the maximum number is 96 bit planes per pattern sequence. The reason your first request, and consequentially your second, won't work is that those 96 available bit planes are split into four 24 bit plane buffers and individual patterns cannot cross those buffers.

    If you rearrange your pattern sequence to have the 8 bit-depth patterns first and then the 1 bit-depth patterns there won't be any buffer crossover issues.

    Best regards,

    Blair

  • Hi Blair,

    Got it. I would like to request two pattern sets as seen below.

    PExT = 10500 us

    Release Pattern Set:

    Bit-Depth # Patterns Color
    1 1 Red
    1 1 Green
    1 1 Blue
    1 6 Green
    8 8 Green

    Development Pattern Set:

    Bit-Depth # Patterns Color
    8 8 Green
    1 21 Green
    1 1 Red
    1 1 Green
    1 1 Blue

    Thank you,

    Cole

  • Hello Cole,

    The pattern sets are provided on the following web page:

    Best regards,

  • Hello,

    I am using the lightcrafter for human computer interaction. The system is based on lightcrafter and a camera. Firstly, camera needs the signal from lightcrafter to sync. Secondly, the lightcrafter should update projections based on input information, e.g. hand gesture or finger touch. Could current GUI(4.0.1 version) can meet my needs?  If it can, which mode should be used? HDMI video or MBMC? Does HDMI provide the sync signal?

  • Hello Zhong,

    Welcome to DLP&MEMS forum.

    If you don't mind, i would request you can post query like this in a new thread. This way it will consistent and it will not be unnoticed.

    OK.

    Can you tell me how you are planning to use LightCrafter? What is the input data to the Kit, RGB24 bit color video or something else? Based on your description we suggest which is the best approach.

    Regards,

    Sanjeev
