C6678 PCIe x1 and x2

Hello all,

I am reading SPRUGS6C and on page 1-5 it says:

"The PCIe subsystem has only one interface link and this link can be used in ×1 or ×2 lane arrangements connecting to only one device. In other words, there exists no support for connecting to two devices in an ×1 arrangement because it has the support of a single interface link. This also means that it can not be used as a switch."

-Does that means I cant connect the C6678 EVM/PCIE0 to a PC (using AMC to PCIE adaptor) for PCIE boot while using PCIE1 to interface with an FPGA at the same time for example?...if so, what the 2 lanes are for?

-If DSP/PCIE is a RC, can an EP start transmission?. or an EP is a slave and RC must send a read memory to it?

Hi Murad,

That is correct. We have a single PCIE interface with two lanes. PCIE will negotiate between the root complex and the endpoint to determine how many lanes can be used. If two lanes are available at both end, it will connect with two lanes. If only one lane is available on either end it will drop back to one lane. You cannot connect the C6678 PCIE interface to multiple devices.

For your second question, either EP or RC can start the transmission.
