C6678 Hyperlink usage in Single Lane

Hi All,

According to documentation, Hyperlink can operate in Single Lane or Quad Lane modes.

Would it be possible to operate in single lane mode with one lane connected physically ? what does it mean for the other lanes IOs ?

In addition, is it mandatory to operate single_lane mode with lane_0 or can we have another lane than #0 working instead ?

Yes, Hyperlink operates 1 or 4 lanes mode only.

For my understanding, single lane physical connection is enough. I will check with hardware team and confirm the same.

Lane 0 is used for the single lane mode operation. No.

The response provided by Ganapathi in this thread is not correct. All 4 lanes must be connected. Power savings modes can be enabled which will reduce the number of active lanes to 1 or even 0 during pauses in communication. Also, HyperLink allows for byte lane swapping and P/N swapping to simplify routing. However, to support power savings with only 1 lane active, lane 0 must be connected to lane 0, symmetrically.
