Dose KeyStone II support 1.35V DDR3L?

Hi Champs,

Could you please let me know if KeyStone II support 1.35V DDR3L or not?

According to DDR3 Design Requirements for KeyStone Devices (SPRABI1B), KeyStone I/II don't support the 1.35V DDR3L.

- Page 9 : 2.3 Memory Types

...DDR3L SDRAMs operating at 1.35 V are not supported at this time.

But according to one of KeyStone II device datasheet (SPRS864D), it supports the 1.35V DDR3L.

- Page 176 : 9.2 Recommended Operating Conditions

DVDD15 DDR3 I/O voltage DDR3L@1.35V

So, I'd like to make sure of it.

Yes, KeyStone II supports DDR3L at 1.35V. The Data Manual is correct. We need to update the DDR3 Layout Guidelines document. KeyStone I devices are not qualified at DDR3L at this time.

Are there any test boards or customer designs on which have DDR3L at 1.35V?

I thought I posted a response to this question. Somehow it must have been lost.

We have completed characterization of the KeyStone II devices at DDR3L levels (1.35V nominal). Therefore, there are internal test boards at this voltage. However, these characterization boards cannot be used outside of the factory. The EVMs ship with the DDR3 voltage of 1.5V. They can be operated at 1.35V. The DDR3 VDDQ power supply can be configured for the lower voltage and the power monitoring logic also. We have not done this but it is possible if a customer wants to perform these changes.

The latest datasheets for the TCI6636K2H and TCI6638K2K state that the DDR3 voltage has to be 1.5V, whereas the TCI6630K2L allows 1.35V or 1.5V.
Are the datasheets wrong? Is DDR3L (at 1.35V) actually supported on K2H and K2K?

K2K and K2H are qualified for DDR3 at 1.5V and DDR3L at 1.35V. This still needs to be added to the documentation.

I notice it has still not been added to any official documentation, and I am aware that any advice given on this forum carries no warranties.

Do you know when an official endorsement for DDR3L will be announced ?

Updates to the documentation is pending. I am not aware of the schedule. I can assure you that all KeyStone-II devices are qualified for DDR3L operation. If you need additional validation, please contact your TI sales representative.
