eMMC with AM3874

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM3874

Hi,

I have one question.

Does anyone work the eMMC device with AM3874?

According to my checking of E2E, many people uses eMMC with DM814x device.

My customer made AM3874 board based on DM814x board schematic. the eMMC on DM8148 board work correctly with DM8148 device. But the eMMC on new AM3874 board does not work with AM3874. But new board can work correctly with DM8148ES device, instead of AM3874. I believe the mmc module of AM3874 is same as DM814x .  Why can I use the eMMC device with AM3874? Also is there any sample code for using eMMC device with AM3874?

Oh, by the way I have one more question. Is it possible to format eMMC on the board by AM3874 code?

Please advise me.

Best regards,

Michi

  • Michi,

AM3874 device should be able to work/boot with eMMC, see the TRM:

It may be possible to design the system so that an eMMC/eSD memory type is connected to the MMC1 interface. However, the dual voltage IOs feature of MMC1 dedicates it preferably to cards.

eMMC/eSD embedded memories only support raw mode.

eMMC/SD devices only support raw mode. The ROM Code reads out raw sectors from image or the booting file within the file system and boots from it.

Have a look also in the attached file:1212.4375.MMC.rtf

    I also think so.
