Hy everyone,

we are "desperately" searching for the BIOSPSP (SYS/BIOS drivers) package for the DM814x Processor (whatever version). As stated by our TI-FAE there is only Linux driver support included in several SDKs (foremost EZ SDK).

However, reading this or that I got the impression that there MUST be someone somewhere having that package in its possession or at least knowing where to find it.

If that is the case, can that someone please contact me or answer here?

We have TI-RTOS (Formerly known as SYS/BIOS) available at the below location:

This is also available as a component from the EZSDK:

ti-ezsdk_dm814x-evm_5_05_02_00/component-sources/bios_6_33_05_46/

A special SYS/BIOS interface should be used to access to ( in example MMC/SD) driver that is located in the PSP component:

ti-ezsdk_dm814x-evm_5_05_02_00/board-support/linux-2.6.37-psp04.04.00.01/drivers/mmc/

IOM drivers implement the IOM interface provided in <bios_install>/packages/ti/sysbios/io/IOM.h to manage a peripheral. Such drivers are provided in some certain other software components (for example, the PSP and SDK products), or you can write your own.

There is also BIOSPSP (v3.10.06.00) SysBios platform support package, but under NDA and available only through your local TI FAE.

It includes BIOS drivers for following peripherals:

thanks for the answer.

The problem here is, that our TI-FAE doesn't seem to know anything about that BIOSPSP. His answer to our request is:
"We do not have an RDK that runs TI-RTOS/BIOS on A8"

So, what can we do now?

Hi Pavel,

is there any NAND-FTL library available and compatible to the BLOCKMEDIA-Driver provided by the BIOSPSP or the diskio interface of FatFS?

Its unfortunate that this BLOCKMEDIA driver and the SYSBIOS-provided FatFS is quite useless without some sufficient FTL for wear leveling, garbage collection and/or bad block management for the internal flash chips..

Well, I'd like to.

However, since this package is only distributed under NDA I'm afraid I can't.

So, for now I think Pavel is best qualified for answering your question about your local TI FAE. And since he is a quick "answerer" you should have your package within the next days.

I can not comment regarding the drivers provided by the BIOSPSP. The BIOSPSP package is only available for windows, and I have only Linux Ubuntu host machine.

I will check with the team regarding your question and update this e2e thread when get feedback.

Meanwhile I made a search and found the FTL we have in MTD utils:

Also I found the below statement from the ROM code expert:

In short, TI does not provide any FTL. The TI linux baseport supports only the MTD interface. In general it is a very bad idea to use FAT on NAND as performance will be very bad, because FAT file system is not optimized for Flash devices. Normally for NAND one would use a flash friendly file system like JFFS2 or YAFFS2.

There are commercially available windows drivers that can let you access a jffs2 filesystem from windows. You can google for these.

If it is critical for the customer to have FAT file system on the device, may I recommend that he moves to using managed NANDs. With managed NANDs it will be easy to use FAT file system on the device, as they behave like MMC/SD cards.

Note also that for the latest DM814x PSP, UBIFS is recommended over JFFS2:

Thanks. Unfortunately those file systems are all bound to Linux ... and using Linux is not an option for us. Porting to SYSBIOS might be possible but not reasonable.

Btw, performance is not our main concern. "Slow" is better than "not at all".

As you have suggested , i contacted the distributors but they said that they do not deal in software packages , are there any kind of special distributors who deals with software packages for TI ?
