DM814x: Problems with capturing an image from CPI into RAM

Hello all,

I have some trouble to transfer images from the camera parallel interface into RAM using the ISS of a DM8147 on our custom board.

I followed the instructions in SPRUH30B "TMS320DM814x Imaging Subsystem (ISS) User's Guide", chapter 3.4.1.1.2 "ISS ISP ISIF Register Setup".

Our camera is connected to the CPI camera parallel interface providing a pixel clock of 25 MHz.

Obviously some data are received by the ISS. When checking the HS/VS IRQs is see a proper number of HS/VS IRQs matching the number of lines or images respectively.

But that's all I could see so far. The image is not put into memory to the address configured by ISIF_CADU/ISIF_CADL registers. And the VDINT IRQs don't occur as configured by ISIF_VDINT0/ISIF_VDINT1 register.

I would greatly appreciate any help what to check next - settings or data that should change when an image is received. Thanks in advance.

E2E mentions „IPNC RDK 3.5“ e2e.ti.com/.../1531902 containing code for the ISS interface. Can we provide that as a reference for his implementation?

Hi,

If an ISR is hooked to the VDINT0 then relative to the VSync the VD interrupt gets triggered.

You should configure the ISIF frame grab registers like PPLN, LPFR, SPH and SPV and the buffer address (CADU, CADL).

Also you should enable the DWEN in the ISIF.SYNCEN register.

You should use the ISS driver package provided along with the IPNC/CBB RDKs.

Hello all,

no, we are not using IPNC. First I were not able to find any download location. Second I'm afraid we will not be able to use it since we are using SYS/BIOS on the ARM core. Nevertheless I'd like to have a look at the IPCN source code to get some ideas of how to configure and use the ISS. Is there any "official" way to get it?

Actually we found our major problem: Activation of the ISP module was missing in the config register (CLKCTRL[1]). Now we got our first images and continue to track down remaining issues.
