Hi,

I am using DVR_RDK 04.01.00.02 on DM8148 Custom Board. DM8148 has MMC/SD Card interface. Currently we are using 8GB Micro SD Card for our application. I want to encode the video and save it to the SD/MMC. What is the maximum size of SD card supported by the DM8148 ??

Hi Pranay,

DM814x EZSDK has been verified with 2GB, 4GB and 8GB SD cards. The same should be valid for DVR RDK as well. So you should be able to use your 8GB SD card.

What filesystem you are planning to use on that SD card?

The DM814x device includes 3 MMC/SD/SDIO Controllers which are compliant with:

Secure Digital Part 1 Physical Layer Specification V2.00 and
Secure Digital Input Output (SDIO) V2.00 specifications

In SD 2.0 spec, we have limit of 32 GB for SDHC cards.

MMC/SD driver supports:

- High-speed (SDv1.1) and High Capacity (SDv2.0) cards
- SDXC cards are supported(backward compatible) but can only be run at HSMMC speeds

The SDXC support was verified using a 64GB, Class 10, Transcend SDXC card.

Hi Pavel.

Thanks for the answers. According to the above answers DM8148 supports SDHC cards. We are planning to use 32GB SDHC card. We want to record live video and write it to the SD Card. What can be the maximum bandwidth or throughput we can achieve by using 32GB SDHC Card ??

Pranay,

The hardware maximum throughput of SDHC card is 25 MB/sec however you can not achieve the maximum throughput. It depends on software, file system usage also impact the performance.
