Can GV7601's YUV 10bit Output be connected to DM8168 8Bit Port DIRECTLY to transfer 1080P30 video data?

  In DM8168 TRM P371,2.11.1 "Features --- Input  -- YUV 422 8-bit discrete sync mode"

I'm not quite sure the meaning of "YUV 422 8-bit descrete sync mode".  "sync"mean EAV SAV or HSYNC,VSYNC?

 GV7601's output diagram(YCbCr 4:2:2)

Can it be connected to DM8168 8-Bit port directly?

 Expecting for your answer.Thank you!

  • Hi,

Discrete sync means hsync and vsync.  Since you are using 8-bit interface to drive 1080P30, your clock speed should be double and your luma and chroma should be multiplexed, which is the case i am seeing on above diagram. If EAV and SAV should also be 8-bit. If that is the case then it can be easily interfaced to DM8168 input port.

  • Hi,

    What about the output?

Can the davinci video output be connected to a chip that accept 8 bits YCbCr 4:2:2 format at 1080p 30fps?

    Thanks in advance

    Alberto

  • Yes, it can be connected, but it will output bt656 style of embedded sync codes, not bt1120 style of sync codes.

    ie it will output 0xff 0x00 0x00, but not 0xff 0xff 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00.

If your receiver chip supports 1080p30 in bt656 style of sync codes, it can be connected.
