Interrupting 8168 DSP from ARM

Because the MSI interrupts from PCIe are not routed to the DSP on the 8168, we are attempting to have the ARM interrupt the DSP when it receives an MSI for an event which should be processed by the DSP. However, we have been unsuccessful in determining how this should be done.

1) Is it possible to interrupt the DSP from the ARM?

2) Does the ARM have access to the DSP's event set registers?

3) Is there an example available for how this should be done from the ARM?

You can use the mailbox peripheral for interprocessor interrupts.

Thanks for the help. We are actually using SysLink, which uses the mailbox peripheral. As such, we were able to use SysLink Notify to interrupt the DSP.

Once we got the notify to work, we measured the time for the notify (by asserting a GPIO before the call to notify in the GPP and deasserting the GPIO after the notify was received by the DSP). It took around 20us. Is this consistent with the performance expected from the SysLink Notify? We were expecting this to be faster.

Hi,

I am also currently working on C6A8167 board and want to use mailbox for interrupts to DSP and ARM. Are there any example codes for the same?
