OMAP3530 IBIS Model

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OMAP3530

Hi

I met trouble when use the OMAP3530 ibis model for simulation, the IBIS model download from TI's web,

i find the notes in IBIS model: 16 errors relating to DC endpoints and 182 warnings relating to non-monotonic

behavior, non-zero GND/POWER Clamp values and C_comp max/min values.

When translated the model from IBIS to DML for SI, the Allegro PCB SI din't sucessfully translate, can't generate

the DML file.  Could you please give me methord to solve this trouble?

Any help would be appreciated...

With best regards,

Felix

  • Felix,

The errors and warning should be able to be waived. There is a note in the comment section relating to this.

For Allegro I believe there is a command line option to tell it to ignore these errors and continue with DML generation but I can't recall what it is at the moment.

    I will check though.

    Steve

  • Felix,

In regards to OMAP35x IBIS models, errors and warnings are already documented in file header of IBIS file and it is possible to waive them in some simulators.  Basically OMAP35x IBIS models are not able to accurately model adaptive feedback IOs over large ranges of operating conditions.  The 16 "errors" noted in IBIS model were introduced in latest models on web and  if you look closely you will notice that the errors are actually the same as the warnings but with slightly wider deltas (IBISCKR4).  In this respect, the "errors" are more like "extreme warnings" and will actually simulate in some simulators but not others.

Note: These models will simulate in some simulators like Mentor Hyperlynx but results may vary from actual spice simulations for adaptive feedback IOs.  SigXP does have problems with these models so if you disable dml checker you should then be able to run some simulations with these models.   Basic problem with SigXP is that translation to dml fails due to DML check errors in model.  Another way to get around this is to modify .dml.txt file generated after dml translation fail to .dml and then run simulations using that file.   Basically this yields same results as running with dml checker disabled.

Please reference IBIS Model Report for more details regarding adaptive feedback IOs on OMAP35xx…http://processors.wiki.ti.com/images/archive/9/92/20100524215301!IBISModelReport.pdf

  • James,

According to you suggestion, i translated the model from IBIS to DML, modified the .dml.txt file to .dml file.

But i met another trouble, when ran simulator, error message window came out:

    ERRORS:
    Simulation (CTC057 U3 D28) CTC057 U3 D28 Pulse Typ Reflection Failed, See sigxp.run/case0/sim2/tlsim.log for detail.

I checked the .dml file accroding to the above tips, found that the .dml file No R and L matrices data information.

Could you please give me a help to solve this trouble?

    Thanks,

    Felix

  • Hi,

I am using Zuken CADSTAR12.1 & getting the same errors(16 errors), but I am not able to fix/ignore them with my tool. So can you please suggest any solution to solve this.

    Thanks...
