AM335x-Starter Kit JTAG

Hi,

I have some problems on this board's JTAG connector. I know that this board own a JTAG connector implemented by USB, but I want a real JTAG by using the JTAG header. As I know, the board was left a JTAG header when it was designed. So I want to buy a JTAG connector, just like: XDS100 Emulators, but I don't know what kind of it should I choose in http://www.ti.com/tool/xds100, is the '20pin & 10pin ARM connectors' ?

You should choose the TI-20pin target connector.

Hi Biser,

Thank you! I knew that I should choose the first one, but why I shouldn't choose the second one? I found that it's marked with ARM.

I also have another question. Is there any differences between the board provided 'USB -> JTAG' and 'JTAG header -> JTAG connector'?

Hi Zhang,

The ARM connector has different pin-out/signals.

The USB JTAG is based on an FTDI chip. You connect through USB and a special driver is needed on the PC side, which I believe comes with CCS. The JTAG connector allows you to directly connect to the AM335X JTAG interface. However, you should know that on the Starter Kit the USB JTAG is populated by default. If you need the direct JTAG connector, you will have to remove resistors R75, R227...230, R79, R78, R77 and you have to populate all the components in the green JTAG rectangle.
