PCI

Hey everyone,

I'm looking for a PCI example for C6455.  Does anyone have some information to share?

Thanks in advance,

Adam

  • Hi Adam,

what do you exactly looking for?

I can give you more infomation about our sytem which is using a cPCI-Backplane, a  x86 CPU (Windows XP)  as PCI-Master and a DSP 6455 as PCI slave.

    Would it help you?

    Best regard

    Bernhard W.

  • Hey Bernhard,

Thanks for the reply.  My goal is to transfer data from a PC(Windows XP system) through the PCI bus, into a specific location in memory and then back to the PC.  Yes, it would help me.  Thanks again.

  • Hi Adam,

in the attachement you can find some sourcecode. Handle it like open source-code. So,  if you will improve or extend the code please let me take part.

We hadn't  a lot experience in PCI-things when we started developping. But the result seems to be quite stable an we can reach a performance of up to 100 MByte/s with the ICH8 Chipset on the x86 CPU-board.

II hope it will help you. If there are some more questions let me know. But do not ask me too much for the windows dirvers source code. I don't no too much about it.

It's not my world. I only know that a PCI access from  windows application over the driver  to the DSP is like file IO and it seems to be very easy to freeze the system or produce a blue screen. If you don't  trust your windows-programmer give him only small access to the holy DSP

    Best regards

    Bernhard W.

  • Hi Bernhard:

I need exactly what you mentioned in this answer. Is the link in your following answer gives the information you said here? Do you have some files that show me how it works and how can I use it? Or do you have some more advanced version, since this is an answer in 2010.
