TI-API: orderStatus - meanings and transitions?

I know the possible values of orderStatus, Processing, Acceptance Required, Created, Submitted, Cancelled, In-Work, Complete from the documentation, but am not really sure about their meanings. In my (still quite limited) practical use I only observed PROCESSING (in capital letters) and Complete so far, as well as NULL (i.e. an empty field) in case of errors.

Are there any guidelines or flow-charts which event causes a transition to which state? In particular I'd like to know from which status codes the order still might be Cancelled later on and otherwise which codes (apart from Complete, if any) indicate definitive acceptance.
