TPS65994QFNEVM: Application Customization Tool

Part Number: TPS65994QFNEVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65994, TPS65981

Is the TPS65981 Application Customization Tool suitable for the TPS65994 EVM? I noticed that the TPS659x devices are not an option for the existing tool.

  • Carah,

Our configuration GUI's are very part and firmware release dependent, so it is not possible to use a GUI from one part with another part.

Are you working with a TI FAE to support you?

The TPS65994 collateral is shared using non public means, so it is easiest if you ware working with a FAE.  I can work to help you in any case, but that is where I prefer to start.

    Regards,

    Chuck

  • Chuck, I am using the EVM for educational purposes for a project at my university. I am not currently using an FAE, however, I feel like I'm lacking resources for development. Is there any chance I can access the collateral for this EVM as I've already received the board?

  • Carah,

I will need to look into how to support you in this case.  A lot of the collateral is limited to very specific uses.

The TPS65988DDH would have been a better choice for your use.  This part is widely supported and does not integrate any information that is not publicly available.

  • When previously looking at EVM for USB-C controller it seemed that the TPS65988DDH sample was not available. Is it currently available? I wouldn't have chosen this specific EVM had I known that support was unavailable. My application is primarily for power delivery and being able to discharge and charge a battery through a USB-C port. I'm not concerned with display settings and data transfer.

  • Carah,

If that is the case, then I suggest you look at this reference design instead.  https://www.ti.com/tool/USB-PD-CHG-EVM-01

It integrates a charger onto the board and has a much simpler and better support model.

It also just became available again,.
