TCAN1043A-Q1: TCAN1043A-Q1

Part Number: TCAN1043A-Q1

I have some questions below about your CAN DRIVER product such as TCAN1043A-Q1.

1) TCAN1043A-Q1 needs two kinds of power supply (5V and 24V).

Why does it need 24V ?

You have other IC which does not use 24V,  right ?

2) If we change DRIVER IC from IC which needs two kinds of power to IC which needs only 5V,

could you give any suggestion about electrical circuits or recommend some DRIVER IC.

Best Regards

  • Hi Yukitoshi-san,

    1. The Vsup supply for this device is used to power the device while it is in sleep mode. In this mode, Vcc and Vio can be disabled and the low-power receiver is supplied entirely by Vsup. After the device wakes from sleep, Vcc and Vio will need to be supplied for normal operation (sending and receiving CAN data).
The recommended range for Vsup is between 4.5V and 40V. This allows Vsup and Vcc to share a supply as long as both supply ranges are respected.

    2. Which device are you switching from? Is the current device an 8-pin CAN transceiver such as TCAN1044? If you do not need the sleep and INH functionality of a 14-pin transceiver such as TCAN1043A, this may not be the easiest switch.

Can you share the requirements of your system? This could help us recommend the best device for your needs.

    Regards,
    Eric Schott
