TPS65988: The TPS65988DH cannot output when port2 sets source/UFP.

Hi,

I have some questions.

(1) I tested working of source/UFP using two TPS65988DH.(Please refer to attached figure)

I cannot output 5V from port2 of source/UFP. Output is 0V.

What’s reasons ? and Could you tell me the solution about this problem?

(2) About “Port Configuration” in F/W Tool, What is DRP ? ( Dual Role Data ? , Dual Role Power ? )

Hi,

This depends on if VIN_3V3 is powered before the sink connection is made and also this is assuming your circuit is correct to handle this configuration. For reference, I would recommend taking a look at the EVM User's Guide at the Layout section.

DRP in this case is referring to the both UFP/DFP roles of the PD controller.

Thank you for your reply.

First power supply is VIN_3V3, second power supply is VBUS1(Port1/sink).

In this case, no dead battery mode.

Why cannot the port2(source/UFP) output voltage ?

Thank you for your cooperation.

I closed this thread because I found the cause of this matter in the datasheet.

The cause is below.

I thought to set UFP but the datasheet describes sink in 0x28 register.
