SN65LVEP11: Minimum input swing CONSULT

Hi experts,

Greetings,

Now my customer is seeking for a very high frequency buffer chip. They found that SN65LVEP11 could be the potential candidate for this application.

however, their input for SN65LVEP11 is a signal with 2V CM, and only 150mv swing. Can this work for SN65LVEP11?

According to Datasheet, when using AC-coupling, 150mv is acceptable.

However, in APP note SCAA059C, it recommended 310mv to be the minimum.

Can you help to verify if 150mv Swing is enough for SN65LVEP11 to work stably.

Do we have some EVM or simulation resources?

Hi Marsh,

The app note only mentions typical V_ID for most applications. Customer can judge SN65LVPE11 V_ID based off the EC table in the datasheet.

Hi Marsh,

I was referring to the App note you mentioned. Customer should use spec listed in the datasheet EC table. Customer is looking at a AC coupled application? Do you have a block diagram here?

Hi Malik,

So, with AC-coupling, 150mv V_ID is acceptable for the SN65LVPE11, and is enough to make SN65LVPE11 work stably, right?

150 mV is the minimum possible VID for this device is customer can guarantee to never be below 150 mV VID, then yes. Keep in mind that PCB/cable losses can also have variation as well. I would recommend customer to design for a larger VID to not exceed the minimum spec.
