DS125DF111: How to disable DFE and CTLE function in DS125DF111

Part Number: DS125DF111

Hi Team,

May I know how to disable the DS125DF111 DFE and CTLE function? I only want to use the amplitude limitation function of this device. Thanks.

I tried to disable the DFE in GUI, but it doesn't work. And does CTLE=0 means disable the CTLE?

  • Hi Zhizhao,

I am observing that in the demo mode of SigCon Architect, the "Enable DFE" selection in the high level page gets reset when I switch from the high level page to the low level page.  With that said, it appears that disabling DFE and applying the settings to the channel do function correctly.  You can verify DFE is disable from the low level page if channel register 0x1E[3]=1.

Regarding the CTLE, there is not a way to completely disable it, but CTLE=0 is the best option for this.  There is likely some small equalization that will be applied to the signal at CTLE=0, but this shouldn't be an issue since the data is retimed and retransmitted by the CDR and driver stages of this device.

    Thanks,

    Drew

  • Hi Drew,

Thanks for help! We want to set the VCO rate in the CDR to 10.1376G, which is one of the rates supported by CPRI. It supports 9.8G settings in the Standard Mode of TI's SigCon Architect.
But there is no 10.1376G, we want to use Manual Mode to set this rate, please tell me how to set it up, the EVM board uses Channel B.

Also, do the Group divider settings shown on the right and the settings on the left work with each other?
Can Voltage Select in TX Control be set to 810mv or 850mv?

    Thanks.

    Zhizhao

  • Hi Zhizhao,

This rate can be configured by selecting CH B and entering the rate into the Group 0 and Group 1 VCO frequency.  Then click "Write Rate Regs".  For the group divider settings, I would recommend using a divider of 1 for both group 0 and group 1, unless you are also operating at subrates to 10.1376 Gbps.

Regarding the VOD, you cannot set it to 810mV or 850mV.  Please see below for available TX VOD options.

    Thanks,
    Drew
