TUSB422: Alternate mode

Dear teams,

Based on the DS, it seems that TUSB422 can implement alternate mode with register 0x18 [3:2]. Could I ask normally how to identify one device to support alternate mode or not? Or we can say one device support alternate mode if it support USB PD spec?

alternate mode means if you support DP or not.

Hi,

Refer to the USB PD spec, the alternate mode needs to be negotiated between the two PD controllers If negotiation fails, then we go back to the USB mode.

Hi David,

Thanks a lot for sharing the diagram from the USB PD spec, and I am fully understand that it needs to have negotiation succeed between two PD controller to enter the alternate mode. Could I aksed how to identify whether these two PD controller support alternate mode or not?

all PD controllers should support Alt mode.
