SN65HVD10: SN65HVD10 isolation between two modules

Hi Team,

We used the transceiver (SN65HVD10DR). I've included the circuit diagram below.

The issue was that we had connected the SN65HVD10DR to the B&R CS communication module. However, no communication isolation exists between B&R A,B and SN65HVD10DR A,B. Please advise on how to isolate the A/B communication.

Please do the needful.

If you need galvanic isolation, use an isolated RS-485 transceiver, e.g., ISO1430, or ISOW1432 if you do not already have an isolated power supply.

Hi,

There is a couple of potential options to explore.

1. You can add a digital isolator between the controller and console pins (D, DE, /RE, R) so that the controller is isolated from the device.

2. You can look at our isolated RS-485 portfolio as these devices provide integrated isolation. https://www.ti.com/interface/rs-485-rs-422/products.html#1690=Yes&

I have also added our isolation team to give their opinion on best ways to add isolation to this system.

Hi,

As Parker mentioned,
ISO1430 supports up to 12Mbps and ISO1450 supports up to 50 Mbps. Full duplex option is also available in these variants. If there is no secondary side supply, then please use our star product ISOW1432 which has integrated DC/DC converter. It is full duplex product but can be used in half duplex configuration as well.
