TCA9548A: Does TI have fast mode plus solutions?

Part Number: TCA9548A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN74LV4066A

Hi team,

My customer use NXP-PCA9848 and its I2C speed could be up to 1MHz.

I search our devices but only find 400kHz clock, so may I know do we have higher speed I2C switch solutions?

Thanks

  • There is no 1 MHz I²C switch.

The control register of the TCA9548A itself must be accessed with at most 400 kHz. The switches have not been tested for higher frequencies, but are likely to work (but there is no guarantee).

Alternatively, it might be possible to use general-purpose switches like the SN74LV4066A (controlled with GPIO signals).

  • Hi Paul,

We currently offer several I2C switches in our TCA family of devices. TCA devices have been characterized up to 400 kHz, but most likely can work with 1 MHz applications but we can not guarantee this on TI's side.

Clemens is also correct. You may contact the Mux team to see if any of the 1:2, 1:4, 8:1, channel multiplexers could also suit the customers needs for I2C switching applications >400kHz.

    Regards,

    Tyler
