SN751178: About Thermal shutdown function.

Part Number: SN751178

Hi team,

Our customer tested this device about high temperature condition. They observed thermal shutdown protection, but some device were automatically restored and others ware not.

The not restored one  keeps latched only one of 1Y or 2Y output Low. There is some case these device restored when cooling by cold spray.

So, I want to know this device's thermal shutdown enable condition and restore condition.

Do you have some information about this?

And when thermal shutdown is enable, is this correct behavior that 1Y and 2Y latched low?

Best regards,

teritama

  • Hi teritama,

What temperature are you holding the device and how to you have the device loaded when testing the thermal shutdown?

This part is bit older - so we are a bit limited on the information we have available. That being said - typically the thermal shutdown occurs around the max junction temperature - not necessarily the max ambient - so I want to understand your test setup a bit better - because my worry is that the part  may be suffering damage during the testing.

    Please let me know!

  • Hi Parker,

    Thank you for reply.

    >What temperature are you holding the device and how to you have the device loaded when testing the thermal shutdown?

⇒When they testing, surface temperature is about 150℃~160℃ and when normally using, thermal shutdown was enabled at 46℃~50℃ surface temperature.

Could I share the schematic on offline email to share the using condition?

    Best regards,

    teritama

  • Hi Teritama,

Yes we can take this offline - and you can share the schematic there - I will message you on E2E with my email and we can go from there.

I will be closing this thread so that we can take discussion offline.

    Best,
