TCAN1043A-Q1: CAN output current / output impedance

Part Number: TCAN1043A-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN65HVD230Q-Q1, , SN65HVD230, TCAN1043

Hello

in older versions of CAN transceiver datasheets (eg SN65HVD230Q-Q1) output current (IOH, IOL) of the driverstage are mentioned.

For TCAN1043A-Q1 short circuit current of 100mA is available.

Any data available available for output current / output impedance?

Thanks

Martin

  • Martin,

Thanks for your patience, we'll have a response to you by Monday, 08/07/2023, end of business CST.

  • Hi Martin,

The Iso(rec) values for TCAN1043A would be roughly comparable parameters to the IIH and IIL specifications from the SN65HVD230. Because the input voltage range of the TCAN1043A is much larger, the test conditions are more extreme with -27 to 42V being applied to the bus pins instead of the 0.8V and 2.0V test conditions of the SN65HVD230. Because of this, we see much larger currents through the CAN pins with the higher applied voltages. The impedance characteristics if the CAN pins are also included in the receiver section of the datasheet parameters.

Is this enough information for your needs? If not, could you share what you are using these values for? It may help me provide some more relevant information.

  • Hi Eric,

I am not referring to the input current of TCAN1043. Input impedance and input current are mentioned in the d/s.

I am looking for the output current of CANH and CANL. Can I use Fig 9-3 as reference?

    thx

    Martin

  • Hi Martin,

Yes, Figure 9-3 can be used to estimate the driver dominant output impedance under a 60-ohm differential load. The RIN specification for the receiver represents to output impedance when the driver is in the recessive state.

Let me know if you have any more questions.
