MAX3243: What's the differences between MAX3243 and SN75C3243?

Part Number: MAX3243
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN75C3243

Hi team,

What's the differences between MAX3243 and SN75C3243?  Can they be p2p alternatives?

They have same supply current but SN75C3243 seems support higher data rate, may I know the reason?

Thanks!

Rayna

  • Yes, the difference is the maximum data rate. To achieve this, the SN75C3243's drivers have a higher slew rate.

  • Hi Rayna,

They are similar devices - beyond the data rate (which is achieved with a lower slew rate output as Clemens mentioned) the other difference is that the MAX3243) the MAX device is offered in a commercial temperature range (0C to 70C) and industrial temperature range (-40C to 85C) while the SN75C3243 is only offered in a commercial temperature range. So be sure to ensure temperature compatibility for system with both possible devices.

    Best,
