DS250DF230: Address 0xFD

Part Number: DS250DF230
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS125DF1610,

Hi,

Is Register Address 0xFD in Step 3 of Table 7-62 of the Programmer's Guide a necessary step? Also, what is the purpose of Step 0xFD?

Since 0xFD is set in the Global Registers and all bits are Reserved, it was not possible to determine whether it was necessary as a procedure.

Best Regards,

Nishie

  • Hi Nishie-san,

Register 0xFD serves as an extension of register 0xFC for devices with more than 8 channels.  For example, see the registers from DS125DF1610.  Since DS250DF230 is a 2 channel device, these registers are marked as reserved.

For DS250DF230, I would recommend keeping 0xFD at 0x00.  The device should not modify this register on its own, but setting 0xFD to 0x00 might still be valuable to leave in your programming sequence as a step to ensure you're working with a known retimer state.

    Thanks,

    Drew
