SN65DSI86: MIPI(DSI) to DP application [Chromebook]

Part Number: SN65DSI86

mopo to DP bridge device and that need support to 4K, 60Hz HBR3  ,  do you have recommend device can promote to customer ? thanks.

  • We have the SN65DSI86 which is an MIPI(DSI) to eDP bridge. The eDP interface can be used to route DP signaling with no problem, so the DSI86 will work for your application.

Here is the product page: https://www.ti.com/product/SN65DSI86

  • 1. EDP provides audio output, but DP requires audio output. Any suggestions on how to solve this issue?"

2.When using the SN65DSI86 in a typical DP monitor, does it support HDCP keys? As far as I understand, if it doesn't support HDCP, it could pose regulatory issues. DP devices are required to support HDCP, which means without it, digital content protection isn't achieved. However, if it's used with an eDP panel directly embedded, HDCP requirements wouldn't be necessary

  • Hey Louis let me look into that, sorry for the delayed response I am currently out on travel.

  • 2) the eDP will most likely not be able to use HDCP, however there is a workaround in ASSR:

The eDP signaling of the SN65DSI86 is eDP 1.4 compliant so option 3a is a viable work around. However, this will be further constrained.

Will the DSI86 be used for an outward facing port of internally? If internally than this is viable, but if it is to be used as an outward facing port then the DSI86 is the wrong device for this application due to its lack of HDCP support.

The eDP 1.4 standard is based off of the DP1.2a standard which does support audio over the main links.

Can you provide more information regarding the issue here?
