SN65C1168E: SN65C1168NS vs SN65C1168ENSR

Part Number: SN65C1168E
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN65C1168,

Tool/software:

Hi,

SN65C1168NS is EOL, and SN65C1168ENSR is suggested as a recommended replacement. Do you have any comparison data between SN65C1168NS and SN65C1168ENSR? We would like to know the difference between the two models.

Thanks,

Conor

  • Hi Conor,

I have put these two devices into our comparison tool: Compare products (ti.com).

When the 'view alternates' option is selected under the SN65C1168, the only comment is around the ESD protection feature.

Under the 'differences' tab, you can see that the SN65C1168 does not have IEC 61000-4-2 contact (+/-V), while the SN65C1168E is spec'd at +/-8000V.  The SN65C1168E offers IEC ESD protection, while the SN65C1168 does not.

The device datasheets are the best source of comparison between the two devices. Many of the specifications look similar, however, there may be small differences. For example, the switching characteristics section shows differences in the propagation delay between the two parts. Although the difference is small, if a system was designed to a certain specification, these types of specifications need to be considered to ensure that the new specification will fit within the design budget.

  • Hi Amy,

I need to know the detailed differences in IC ratings, operating conditions, characteristics, etc. that are not listed in the comparison table. Can you tell me the details of the differences in the datasheet? Once I know which items are different, I can refer to the datasheet.

    Thanks,

    Conor

  • Hi Conor,

Please refer to the datasheet for any information of interest that is not highlighted in the tool.

    Thanks, Amy
