DP83826E: Difference between DP83826E and DP83826i

Hi experts,

My customer is using DP83826E to replace DP83822I in EtherCAT application with F28p650x. From other E2E thread we know the difference between these two device is temperature, however, they found swapping DP83826I to DP83826E is not working. Their software has been tested with DP83826I, and they also performed same swapping experiment on F26P650x control card. Apparently there are more difference in these two devices other than temperature in EtherCAT application.

May I know want's the difference between DP83826I and DP83826E?

This definitely shouldn't be the case, as so you mentioned the only difference should be the temperature rating. Does the customer have register access? Can they

Read registers 0x2 & 0x3 to confirm the PHY ID for both the I and E parts that they have?
Provide the top marking for both parts

Hi Hang,

Thank you for the top markings, could you also confirm the registers?

Could you read registers 0x0-0x1F, 0x467, & 0x468 on both a working and non-working part. Please note 0x467 & 0x468 are extended registers, please refer to this FAQ for more information.

We are still working on the MDIO access to read the registers. Meanwhile, could you give more information on what we are looking for in the registers or top markings? What might be the differences?

Hi Hang,

There is indeed a difference in these two parts. To be clear, RevB of both the 826E and 826I will function as expected with the only difference being the temperature rating. There has been a change made between the two revisions of the DP83826.

826E TI198 ALSE G4 is RevA Silicon.

826I TI278 A9SS G4 is RevB Silicon (most current)

Questions:

When and where did you order the 826E parts from? These RevA parts should not be used.
