Tool/software:

Some USB2 redrivers do not need to be directly integrated into a trace, and can just be placed over the trace. Why is that? Won't this cause the signal to not be boosted?

    Some of our USB2 Redrivers, namely the TUSB211/A, TUSB212, TUSB214, TUSB216, and the TUSB217A, are considered to be passive redrivers. This is meant in the sense that these redrivers do not need to be directly integrated into the trace of the USB2 signal. As long as the DP/DM pins of the device touch the trace at the right polarity, then the redriver has the ability to boost the signal. Additionally, because of this, the redriver can be removed from a system if needed, and will not cause the trace to break.
