DS125DF111: Question about DS125DF111

Part Number: DS125DF111
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS125MB203

Tool/software:

Hello:

Regarding DS125MB203, the customer's application scenarios are as follows:

Function consultation:

(1) The signal source speed is 1Gbps or 2.5Gbps and 9.97Gbps or 1.013GPS. Use the DS125MB20 chip to repeat two identical chips, such as inputting 1Gbps and outputting two 1Gbps. The other speeds are the same. Is it feasible to have a maximum speed of 10.013Gbps?

(2) Can the chip adapt to matching different output rates on its own when the input rate is unknown? For example, are the parameter configurations for the chip the same for the two speeds of 9.97Gbps and 1.013GPS? Or, in other words, this chip does not need to be configured for different speeds?

Thanks!!!

  • Hi Jimmy,

    1. Yes, DS125MB203 can fanout an input signal to 2 identical output signals. DS125MB203 supports data rates up to 12.5 Gbps. Equalization will be better optimized for rates close to 12.5 Gbps.

    2. No configuration change is necessary to switch data rate. DS125MB203 is a redriver, meaning the signal simply passes through equalization, mux/fanout, and driver blocks. Note that this is different from a retimer, which includes a clock and data recovery (CDR) functional block which needs to lock to a specific data rate to retime the signal.

    Best,

    Lucas
