DS560MB410EVM: Cannot connect to Eval module with

Part Number: DS560MB410EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS560MB410, USB2ANY, DS160PR410,

Tool/software:

I have already opened a Support Case (# CS2450159) and have been directed by Support Staff to repeat my Email thread information here.

I have the Eval module connected to a USB port on my PC.  The indicator light flashes to (somewhat) at least indicate activity when I open the SigCon Architect 3.0 application.
I have performed these steps after being directed to a new software update page specifically for he DA560MB410.

I installed SigCon Architect 3.0.  I then was directed to an internal page with several updates, and attempted to follow the procedures, as follows.

However the application still will not connect to the Eval module.

Attached is the Update Page I was directed to:

The update page was only partially successful as follows:

The first link [DS560MB410_RevB_Files.zip only results in a new tab in both Chrome and Edge that is an endless spinning wheel.
              Nothing ever downloads.

The 2nd and 3rd links create a download, and I have unzipped and applied both the DS560MB410_Updater and the USB2ANY…Setup.

The application now behaves very similarly to the previous operation, it continues to indicate an address failure or other failure.

The Eval board is hooked to the USB port and has a green LED illuminated on the edge.

The “Slave Address” is what is indicated in the User’s guide, which also says the DS160PR410 should NOT appear in the GUI.

So, is the failure of the first link to download the Board Files the root-cause of this continuing failure?
Or is the SigCon Architect defective (I see reports in the TI support blog that this is not working).

How do I make this Eval Kit operate correctly?

  • Hi Andrew,

Sorry to hear about your challenges in getting this DS560MB410EVM working.

Having the board files is not a requirement for SigCon architect to work.  However, I am surprised to hear that these are not downloading.  I was able to download these without any challenges.  If you are still unable to download board files, please let me know and I'll raise this issue with an internal team.

There's no issue with DS160PR410 appearing in the GUI.  SigCon architect supports several different device profiles.  They all operate independently.

Would it be possible to share a picture of your DS560MB410EVM board?  I can review the jumper settings this way and compare them to a board I have in lab.

    Thanks,

    Drew

  • I cannot download the "Board Files" but if that is irrelevant to getting the App to communicate/control the Eval module, it is not necessary.

I have loaded 3 snaps of the jumper locations on the Eval board.

I tried changing the J19 jumper from the pictured location (how it arrived) because the App Note discusses 2 modes of operation for the communication but it made no difference.

All jumpers pictured are therefore as-arrived locations.

  • Hi Andrew,

Thanks for sharing the photos.  From what I can tell, all the jumpers appear in the right spot.  I'll try reproducing your jumper positions on a board in lab and will let you know the results on Monday.

    Thanks,

    Drew

  • Hi Andrew,

I observed that the eval board worked well with the jumpers you have configured.  Please see attached photo for reference.

Can you confirm you have 3.3V supply connected?

Also, sometimes if SigCon architect does not detect device at the address on first attempt, clicking "apply" does not correctly check for the device again.  To verify this is not the issue, switch address to 0x32, press "apply", then switch back to 0x30 and press "apply" again.

    Thanks,

    Drew
