[FAQ] TCAN1057A-Q1: why is the CAN Mosfet and Diode used

Part Number: TCAN1057A-Q1

Tool/software:

Hello experts!

I have a question about the purpose of the Mosfet and diode in CAN interface? Further,How does CAN implement arbitration and error correction functions through hardware?

  • The MOSFETs are just switches.

    The diodes protect against over-/undervoltage.

This device is a plain transceiver; the TXD/RXD values correspond directly to the state of the CAN bus lines. Arbitration and error correction would be implemented in the CAN controller (which is connected to the TXD/RXD pins).
