THVD1451: Two Parts, Same Bus, Different Power Rails

Part Number: THVD1451

Tool/software:

What are the ramifications from using x2 THVD1451:

1. on the same bus

2. on different PCBs, separated by a cable

3. running at different supply voltages (one at 5V, the other at 3.3V)

From what I can tell, the THVD1451 is built to handle this, but I'd like to make sure I'm not missing something.

Thanks!

  • Yes, this will work. The only restriction is that they should use the same GND (or at least not more than ±15 V apart).

  • Hi Phillip,

    Clemen's is correct as usual.

As you pointed out, this device was built specifically for this. There shouldn't be any problems. The one that runs on 5V would likely perform a little bit better at driving the cables because the Ron of the drivers will be smaller than the device running on 3.3V. Both devices should still function as expected though.
